The Russian army of invaders, which is fighting against Ukraine, is extremely dependent on logistical supplies via the railway. This was stated by veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, former company commander of the Aidar battalion Yevgeny Diky on air on Radio NV .
The expert noted that Russian military logistics are extremely dependent on the railway, because the invaders do not have enough motor transport, and recently they have not had enough fuel. This is already a result of the Ukrainian drone attacks.
As Dikiy notes, the Russians do not have enough wheeled transport and fuel to “ensure military logistics even by 10 percent.”
"That’s why their entire strategic logistics is completely tied to the railway. And only at the very last leg of delivery are the trains unloaded and the last one is delivered by wheeled transport," added Diky.
As an example of the dependence of Russians on the railway, he cites the section of the railway that the occupiers, in the conditions of military action, risked laying between Crimea and Rostov-on-Don.
"This railway that goes through our Azov region – they see where the front line is. Of course, they knew very well that they would not move this front line there in the near future, but they still laid a railway right next to the front line, knowing that our drones could reach it," added Diky.
The expert emphasized that Ukrainian drones regularly hit Russian railway trains, but this does not stop the Russians from sending new trains. "They literally run trains there under fire from time to time, that’s when they can," noted Dyky.
As the expert explained, Russians use the railway because it is impossible to replace such volumes of logistics deliveries with wheeled transport. He also spoke about the difference between the Russian railway and the Ukrainian one.
"The Russian railway network is not as dense as in Ukraine. In the European part of Russia it is still about the same as ours. But the further to the Urals and especially beyond the Urals, the less dense this railway network is and accordingly it is more difficult to replace the interruption of each branch with bypass routes. This is what we are working on," Dikiy emphasized. Therefore, according to him, the further they hit the Russian railway to the east, the more critical the situation will be for the Russians in that part of the logistics route. At the same time, he noted that the Russians are also trying to hit the Ukrainian railway.
As reported, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported a unique operation conducted on September 13 on the Russian railway . On the Maloarkhangelsk-Glazunovka railway section, Russians found mines, but two Rosgvardia employees died due to unsuccessful mine clearance. After the explosion, as of 22:00 on September 13, federal railway service was stopped, more than 15 trains in both directions are delayed.
