Overnight on May 8, drones struck an industrial area in the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don, causing a fire at the site.
According to Astra, videos of the blaze were published by Exilenova+ Telegram channel.
Preliminary information suggests that the attack targeted the Empils paint coatings plant and a branch of the Radar Scientific and Technical Center. Both facilities are located in an industrial zone in the western part of the city.
Empils is one of the largest paint and coatings manufacturers in southern Russia and the country’s biggest producer of zinc oxide.
Ukrainian drones previously attacked the facility in January 2026.
Meanwhile, the defense industry company Radar Scientific and Technical Center develops and maintains specialized military systems.
On Thursday morning, Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed that its air defense had shot down 264 Ukrainian drones overnight, including some over the Rostov region.
Ukrainian drones also struck the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery in the Russian city of Yaroslavl overnight, causing a fire at the facility.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia’s large-scale redeployment of air defense systems to Moscow ahead of the military parade creates new opportunities for the Ukrainian Defense Forces to carry out long-range strikes deep inside the Russian Federation.
