Ukraine’s paramilitary unit, “Freedom of Russia” Legion has inflicted have logistics blow to Russian invaders in southeastern Zaporizhzhia direction, 70 km deep into enemy lines. The Legion fighters cut one of Russia’s supply arteries – a railway line leading to the occupied Zaporizhzhia Iron Ore Plant. From there, the occupiers were supplying ore to occupied Crimea Peninsula. Using an explosive device, a section of the railway track near Novoyakovlivka was mined. While a diesel locomotive was moving along the line, the fighters detonated the explosive. As a result, the locomotive and the railcars derailed. Video footage shared in social media captures details of the operation. Freedom of Russia legion is a Ukrainian-based paramilitary unit of Russian citizens, which opposes the Russian regime and Putin’s war of invasion in Ukraine. It should be noted that Ukrainain troops have significantly scaled up strikes against Russian logistics, strategic facilities, and energy infrastructure, aiming to disrupt supply chains and weaken Moscow’s ability to undermine Russia’s war efforts. These attacks increasingly target railways, depots, bridges, and transport hubs that serve as critical arteries for moving troops, ammunition, and fuel from Russia’s rear areas to the front lines. By hitting logistics nodes deep behind enemy lines, Ukrainian units force Russian commanders to reroute supplies, extend delivery times, and expose convoys to further attacks. Strikes on oil depots, refineries, fuel storage facilities, and power-related assets reduce Russia’s capacity to fuel military equipment and generate revenue from energy exports.
