The United States is terminating agreements with European countries on combating disinformation from Russia, China, and Iran.

According to their information, last week, European countries received notifications from the State Department that the U.S. is withdrawing from the memorandums of understanding signed in the previous year under President Joe Biden’s administration.
The agreements were intended to establish a unified approach to detecting and exposing malicious information spread by foreign governments to create chaos.
The memorandums were part of an initiative overseen by the Global Engagement Center (GEC) – a United States Department of State agency that fought disinformation disseminated abroad by U.S. adversaries and terrorist groups.
The center was established in 2011 to counter terrorist propaganda and violent extremism on the Internet.
Later, it also started tracking and exposing disinformation campaigns abroad.
It is reported that the administration of President Donald Trump dissolved several government agencies, including the closure of the GEC.
In recent years, Russia has conducted an aggressive disinformation campaign aimed at sowing chaos and undermining support for Ukraine and the Western world order.
