Heavy snowfall continued in Moscow and central Russia for the second day on Wednesday, causing traffic jams and flight delays.
According to Associated Press videos on social media showed people standing in long lines at bus stops in the Russian capital, as municipal services hurried to clear the streets of snow.
Meteorologists expect a new snowfall record in Moscow, as the snow is forecast to continue throughout the day and into Thursday.
Over the past two days, about 40% of the monthly average precipitation has already fallen.
On highways outside Nizhny Novgorod, drivers were stuck in long traffic jams lasting for hours. In the city, a normal commute took hours due to heavy traffic.
According to forecasts, the Mediterranean cyclone that brought the unusually heavy snowfall is expected to remain over central Russia until Friday.
