Hungarian opposition party will not break up with Fidesz legacy | News in Depth

Stuart Dowell, TVP World’s Political Editor, explains how limited the moves of the main opposition party in Hungary actually are. According to the recently announced manifesto, Péter Magyar, the leader of Tisza, proposes maybe some softer stance on Hungary–EU and NATO ties, switching relations with Russia from "love" to "partnership," but little more than that. Tisza needs to convince quite a considerable number of Fidesz voters, Hungary depends on Russian energy supplies, and the system built by Orbán’s party is not easy to dismantle within a year or two. That’s why Tisza’s proposals represent in fact the softer version of Orbánism.
