Ukraine’s Eastern Grouping of Forces has reported that Ukrainian defenders repelled Russian assaults on the Pokrovsk direction. The occupiers initiated active operations in the morning, aiming to capitalize on unfavorable weather conditions for a breakthrough. Recently, Ukrainian forces destroyed two vehicles, six motorcycles, two ground robotic systems, seven drones, three pieces of specialized equipment, and 15 enemy shelters, Euromaidan Press media outlet says.
Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad are the sites of the fiercest battles between Moscow and Kyiv troops so far, where Russia has deployed its most secretive Rubikon unit, female assault units, and is using dozens of air-launched missiles to wipe Ukrainian positions from the face of the earth. About 170,000 Russian soldiers are concentrated on this section of the front. Pokrovsk is 80% seized by the occupiers.
Defense of Pokrovsk continues: Ukrainian troops control nearly 13 sq km in the northern part of the city. Search-and-assault operations and elimination of Russian forces in urban areas are ongoing.
In the area of Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk’s twin city, the situation remains challenging; however, Ukrainian units are holding their positions and completing their assigned tasks. Russian forces are conducting intensive assaults on the southeastern outskirts of Pokrovsk, employing armored, automotive, and motorcycle units. Columns attempted to advance from the south to the northern part of the city, but the 7th Air Assault Corps successfully repelled the attack. The 68th Separate Rifle Brigade, named after Oleksa Dovbush, destroyed the first Russian “box,” after which artillery and other units continued targeting Russian equipment and troops.
Various components of the Defense Forces are involved in defending the outskirts of Pokrovsk, including Air Assault Forces, assault units, Special Operations Forces, the National Guard, and the National Police, Euromaidan Press says.
