European Union foreign ministers are meeting in Brussels for high-level talks on Ukraine, the Middle East, and a fresh round of sanctions against Russia. The EU is also moving ahead with a new package of sanctions against Iran.
Three people have been killed in the Zaporizhzhia region in overnight Russian strikes, as Moscow continues to target civilian areas and energy infrastructure. Meanwhile, Warsaw is continuing its support for Kyiv. A new batch of Polish power generators is set to arrive in the war-torn country later on Thursday.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has said that Ukraine joining the EU at the start of next year is “out of the question.” He made the remarks just a day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv is aiming to join the EU by 2027.
