Romanian lawmakers toppled the pro-EU government of Ilie Bolojan. This new development could potentially put at risk the country’s sovereign debt ratings, its access to EU funds, and the stability of its currency.
“The current outgoing government (…) was a product of a crisis already,” explains TVP World’s Europe Editor, Marcin Zaborowski, pointing to long-standing political instability, the annulled presidential election, and the growing strength of Euroskeptic forces as key drivers behind the government’s collapse.
