Lasar’s Group Destroys Rare Palantin Electronic Warfare System in Zaporizhzhia Region

Soldiers of the Lasar’s Group special unit of the National Guard of Ukraine destroyed a rare Russian Palantin electronic warfare system in the Zaporizhzhia sector.

The unit shared the news on social media, along with a video of the strike.

While conducting reconnaissance in the area controlled by the 17th Army Corps of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, drone crews spotted a cluster of Russian air defense systems behind the front line.

During preparations to strike these systems, it was discovered that they were being protected by a powerful Palantin electronic warfare system, which became the operation’s top priority target.

For the mission, Lasar’s Group coordinated with comrades from the 15th Artillery Reconnaissance Brigade ‘BlackForest,’ who conducted the final reconnaissance of the area where the Russian assets were concentrated.

For the strike, the National Guard special forces used bomber drones.

The first strikes by the crews damaged the Palantin, and subsequent munitions drops completely destroyed the Russian EW system.

Palantin electronic warfare system

The Palantin is an operational-tactical level electronic warfare system. One of its main tasks is countering drones. It was adopted into service by the Russian army in 2019.

The system is mounted on the chassis of a four-axle KamAZ truck. It is designed to jam communication systems and conduct electronic intelligence.

The system’s capabilities allow it to jam enemy electronic systems in the ultrashortwave and shortwave ranges.

The manufacturer claims that the Palantin can generate various types of interference for navigation systems and deny the enemy cellular and trunked communications.
