Ukrainian troops have removed a Russian flag raised in embattled Pokrovsk city in eastern Donetsk region. According to media reports, the Russian flag was destroyed within an hour after being spotted in the morning of October 29.
The flag has been reportedly hit by a Ukrainian drone. Earlier today, Russian social media platforms shared a video footage showing a Russian flag waving in Pokrvosk, right at the entry of the city. A video shared later by Ukrainians shows that there is no Russian flag in the area any more. It should be noted that there were no official reports suggesting that the city had changed hands. The situation in Pokrovsk remains volatile as fighting continues in and around the city. Russian forces have intensified their offensive operations in this part of the Donetsk region, aiming to push deeper into Ukrainian-held territory. The city has faced regular shelling, causing widespread destruction to residential areas and critical infrastructure. Local authorities report ongoing casualties, including both military personnel and civilians, as bombardments often strike populated neighborhoods. On October 24, Ukrainian media, citing officers from two brigades, reported that there were currently at least 250 Russian troops in Pokrovsk, who are engaging in gunfights and shooting at Ukrainian soldiers in positions, including drone operators. The Institute for the Study of War, ISW, wrote that Russian troops advanced in the central and western parts of Pokrovsk and took positions along the railroad.
