The service members of the Lazar Separate Special Forces Detachment of the National Guard of Ukraine destroyed a Russian S-300V air defense system launcher in the Zaporizhia region.
Journalist Yurii Butusov reported the strike and published a video.
The destruction took place in the Russian-occupied territory of the Zaporizhia region.
“The members of the Lazar Detachment of the 27th Pechersk Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine in the Zaporizhia sector destroyed an S-300V launcher worth $40 million. A spectacular detonation of the ammunition and a complete burn-out — all in one. Brilliant work!” Butusov wrote on Telegram.
The video shows Ukrainian drone operators detecting and striking the self-propelled launcher, which carried two transport-launch containers on a highway.
The S-300V launcher had been covering Russian forces and facilities in the occupied part of the Zaporizhia region from Ukrainian air and missile strikes.
After the hit, the launcher’s anti-aircraft missiles detonated, causing a powerful explosion and fire that destroyed the system. The fate of the Russian crew is unknown.
