Moscow’s Behind: Russia Forms Additional Air Defense Ring Around Capital

Russia has reinforced its air defense network around Moscow, according to the jembob project.

Sources report that over the past two months, at least 21 new air defense positions have been established within a roughly 50 km radius of the city.

About 80% of these are located south of Moscow, in the direction of Ukraine.

Most positions are designated for S-300 and S-400 surface-to-air missile systems. Towers and raised platforms have also been constructed to host Pantsir air defense systems.

The expansion of Moscow’s air defenses is likely linked to the increasing range and effectiveness of Ukrainian cruise missiles and drones.

Ukrainian long-range weapons are increasingly breaching Russian airspace, bypassing air defenses, and striking key strategic targets.

In this context, Russian authorities may view Moscow as a potential target for future large-scale attacks.
