A video has appeared online showing yet another emotional reaction from a local resident whose car found itself at the epicentre of the oil spill. The woman complains that the oil has covered the windscreen and bodywork of the car to such an extent that it prevents her from driving safely. "You know what, it’s just, like, my car’s, fuck, covered in oil, look, it’s all covered in oil, the whole thing’s covered in oil, I can’t fucking see where to go, just look at mine," she says in the video. Recall, the environmental situation in Russia’s Tuapse has sharply deteriorated after Ukrainian drones flew over the port again. Residents are complaining of “oil rain”. After the previous attack, the port burned for several days. As soon as it was extinguished, Ukraine launched a new drone strike. The Tuapse oil refinery, located on the port territory, has recorded numerous fires and heavy smoke. Local residents complain of poor air quality as well as “oil rain.” Oil products as a result of burning began to settle in black oily stains, polluting everything around: buildings, trees, cars. Local residents began to evacuate on their own. “It’s just a real environmental disaster! What am I going to do? I don’t want to be here anymore. We have to move out… People are dying. You know, I can’t get it off my hands even with soap. What’s Chernobyl? It’s ingrained! I’m packing my things… I look out the window – it’s bad there. You can’t film such things, they say… That’s it! I’m moving out,” a local resident complained.
Unique space imagery and monitoring data confirm: as of April 21, 2026, smoke from burning tanks at the Tuapse Oil Refinery in Krasnodar Krai, Russia stretched over more than 300 kilometers and reached Stavropol, indicating the scale of the fire. According to NASA Worldview and the relevant monitoring systems, the images show prolonged fire activity and the movement of the smoke curtain toward the northwest. According to local authorities in Krasnodar Krai, the firefighting is ongoing at the moment. NASA data also confirm that the Tuapse Oil Refinery’s tanks continue to burn. On April 16, Ukraine’s Security Service reported a strike on the Tuapse oil refinery and oil transport infrastructure at the port, carried out jointly with the Defense Forces. On the night of April 20, Ukraine’s Defense Forces launched a second strike on an oil terminal in the same area. A hit on a tank farm was recorded, followed by a fire. According to the Center for Countering Disinformation, the blaze was still ongoing as of April 21, indicating significant damage. A series of strikes on key oil terminals along the Baltic coast has already cost Russia nearly $1 billion in export losses alone. Against this backdrop, Russia was forced to sharply cut oil production in April. Damage to ports and refineries, along with transportation disruptions, including via the Druzhba pipeline, has made it harder to process and ship part of the crude.
