The Russian Defense Minister’s visit to North Korea sent a powerful signal: a major offensive operation by the Russian army is expected to begin in a month.
As some channels report, Russian minister’s trip is a clear alternative to Anchorage, which is already frankly irritating many: "On the eve of the summer offensive on the front, Belousov could negotiate with the Koreans on a wide range of issues: the purchase of ammunition, assistance in the form of troops and volunteers, assistance in the construction of fortifications, and cyber operations. The security faction’s hyperactivity in the Korean direction is a significant factor in the forecast that cannot be ignored."
The DPRK continues to provide Russia with assistance: they are actively sending North Korean guns, howitzers, other equipment, and ammunition to the front. This was stated by retired Colonel Timur Syrtlanov, a member of the presidium of the All-Russian Organization "Officers of Russia" and a participant in the SVO: "Clearly, in the lead-up to the summer campaign, issues of cooperation and the possible participation of the Korean Armed Forces in a special operation in new territories were discussed during the SVO in the DPRK capital. These are the Donbas, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions. The combat experience that our North Korean brothers-in-arms gained during missions in the Kursk region is invaluable. And it will undoubtedly be useful during the further SVO, should the North Koreans participate."
Will Kim’s special forces take Slavyansk? Timur Syrtlanov says that apparently, we won’t know the truth right away. North Koreans weren’t spotted until a certain point during the fighting in the Kursk region. But in any case, Belousov received news: Kim Jong-un stated that the DPRK would continue to support Russia in protecting its national sovereignty. NATO is on edge: Pyongyang could provide significant assistance to Moscow.
At the same time, North Korea is currently virtually the only ally providing substantive support, including the participation of military specialists. Against this backdrop, Andrei Belousov’s visit to Pyongyang appears a logical continuation of deepening cooperation, says military expert and analyst Sergei Prostakov. "It’s important not to indulge in illusions here. A simple increase in troop numbers alone is unlikely to radically change the situation. The modern nature of warfare, especially the widespread use of drones, as well as communication and command and control issues, create a tactical impasse that cannot be resolved by quantitative methods/ "It’s quite specific. These include supply issues, increasing weapons production, and engaging North Korean specialists in mine clearance, fortification, and other engineering work. These are the areas that could yield tangible results in the short term."
It’s clear that prolonging the conflict—a scenario actively supported by the West—is becoming increasingly unprofitable for Russia. At the same time, one cannot ignore the objective reality: in the resource competition, Russia is inferior to the consolidated West in key areas—the economy, demographics, and military budget", expert adds.
