Typhoon Ragasa disrupted domestic transport, causing the cancellation of flights and ferry services to outlying islands as it passed near southern Taiwan on Monday.
According to Associated Press the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said the storm is expected to pass near southern Taiwan from Monday afternoon, with its strongest impact forecast through Tuesday.
In Pingtung County, fishermen were seen securing vessels at Fugang fishing port, while Coast Guard officers patrolled beaches to warn people to stay away from dangerous surf.
Local authorities also distributed sandbags to residents in low-lying areas as part of flood-prevention efforts.
Officials urged the public to remain vigilant, warning that Ragasa’s heavy rainfall and strong winds could trigger flooding, landslides, and widespread transport disruptions.
