Leaflets with an open appeal to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin have appeared in the temporarily occupied city of Mariupol. Local residents claim he has entrusted the governance of the so-called "DPR" to swindlers and thieves, according to Astra Press. Residents of occupied Mariupol complained to Putin that the adoption of a law that allows the occupying Russian administration to resolve problems independently has resulted in citizens losing "housing, jobs, and pensions."
An open letter to dictator Putin states that 650 residential buildings have been demolished in Mariupol, while only 76 have been built. Approximately 20,000 families still have not received the housing promised to them by the occupying Russian administration. Residents of this city are expected to be housed in apartments owned by citizens who managed to escape the Russian occupation. Mariupol residents also stated that utility bills are constantly increasing in the city, as are prices for food and medicine. The city lacks doctors, and there are no children’s hospitals at all. The appeal to Putin states that the so-called "DPR" is run by crooks and thieves. Mariupol residents demand that the lawlessness be stopped. As a reminder, in 2025, the Russian State Duma passed a law allowing the Russian administration to seize housing in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. The housing is first declared "ownerless," after which it is transferred to the ownership of the Russian administration. According to the law, the local occupation "authorities" are responsible for determining whether the property is "ownerless."
Mariupol residents also told the truth about the Russian "restoration" of the city.
While the Kremlin and its propaganda arm are reporting on the "restoration" of occupied Mariupol, local residents have revealed what is really going on in the city captured by Russia. " Two and a half entrances are burnt out, that’s just it. I’ve run out of strength and patience… Look how shamelessly they’re treating us, three years in, and soon it’ll be the fourth . It (the house – ed.) looks beautiful on the outside, everything seems fine, and they even got us some railings, but inside it’s a nightmare ," says a resident. That is, the building’s façade has been cosmetically renovated, while the interior is in a dilapidated state and completely unfit for habitation. In particular, they painted the old doors in the house, but in the documents they were presented as new. "Because the building has been standing for three years, these two entrances aren’t heated. So, it’s damp again, everything’s just falling apart. The contractor says there’s no money ," the same resident continues. The resident then contacted Putin on a direct line, after which she was promised that her house would be "restored in August," but the Russian dictator’s promise was not fulfilled. "So, restoration has been going on for three years, formally the process continues, they report on it, they say, ‘Look, we’re restoring so many houses, but there are no results, except for some stories on Russian television ,’" the blogger commented on the residents’ complaints.
