R1 HIMERA Repeater Developed in Ukraine for Communication Between Remote Groups

The Ukrainian company HIMERA has developed the R1 repeater, which enables communication between remote radio stations.

Representatives from HIMERA shared with Militarnyi that the R1 enables remote locations to be connected via the internet.

The device relays the signal and expands the coverage area of the mesh/MANET network. The equipment features built-in encryption and a pseudo-random operating frequency hopping system, which significantly complicates traffic decoding, as well as the detection and jamming of communications by electronic warfare (EW) and electronic countermeasures (ECM) systems.

The repeater can be quickly deployed in the field; it is compact, lightweight, and protected against moisture and dust. The battery life of the built-in backup battery is up to 24 hours.

The company also presented the HIMERA E1 IP network extender, designed to connect two IP networks (or systems transmitting IP traffic) via a secure radio data transmission channel.

The HIMERA E1 is used for data exchange with cameras, sensors, and unmanned systems, as well as for establishing IP networks between units.

The device can extend its coverage area through the use of B1-101E autonomous repeaters.

Built-in encryption and a pseudo-random operating frequency hopping system make it difficult to decode traffic.

HIMERA plans to further scale its tactical communications network across the entire Defense Forces system.

The company is working to expand its product line to ensure stable communication in various environments—on land, in the air, and on water.

In particular, for HIMERA radio stations, an update has been released with enhanced communication security and new features.
