Russia launched massive air airstrike on Ukraine’s southern Kherson region overnight, killing three people and injuring ten others, including a 16-year-old, officials reported on Friday. Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the regional military administration, said Russian troops struck the Korabelny district of Kherson. Kherson Prosecutor’s office revealed that according to the investigation, on October 23, 2025, Russia used artillery, including rocket systems, and various types of drones to shell the Kherson region. Around 130 drones were launched across Ukraine overnight. Drone strikes also hit the Dnipro district, where a “Shaheed” kamkiaze drone crashed into a multi-story residential building, sparking a fire. At least three people were injured there, including an 80-year-old woman and two men aged 52 and 59, city officials reported. In the Kirovohrad region, Russian forces targeted critical infrastructure in the Novoukrainka district, cutting power to 19 settlements, said regional military chief Andriy Raikovych. Heavy shelling in Kirovohrad and nearby regions also damaged railway infrastructure, disrupting train operations, according to “Ukrzaliznytsia”, Ukrainian Railways. The Ukrainian Armed Forces stated that Russia launched 128 drones overnight, of which 72 were intercepted or destroyed by air defenses. Forty-seven drone impacts were recorded across ten locations, the armed forces stated. Russia has been launching relentless attacks, targeting Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure since the start of full-fledged invasion in February 2022. These attacks intensify ahead of winter months for the third year in a row. Friday’s deadly strikes come amid lack of prospects of a cease-fire agreement. Moscow has repeatedly rejected an immediate halt to hostilities unless Ukraine capitulates, complicating efforts toward negotiations. Moscow voices maximalists conditions for ending the war, claiming that “root cause of the conflict” needs to be addressed, and long-term, sustainable peace must be reached instead of temporary cease-fire.
