The situation in Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region is stable, but the enemy is trying to bypass the city and expand its control, Ukrainian military expert and analyst Oleksandr Trehubov commented on the situation in Vovchansk during a TV broadcast.
According to Trehubov, the city is currently under the stable control of Ukrainian forces. The main issue in this direction is not Vovchansk itself, but the enemy’s attempts to bypass the city and expand their area of control.
"For example, in Vilcha, the enemy is trying to establish a foothold, but our units are driving them out. However, they keep attempting to re-enter," Trehubov explained.
Thus, the key challenge at the moment is not the assault on Vovchansk itself, but the enemy’s ongoing attempts to bypass the city and create a bridgehead for further actions. The expert emphasized that Ukrainian forces are controlling the situation and respond promptly to any enemy advances in the area.
As previously reported, near Vovchansk on the Southern Slobozhanshchyna axis, Russian troops are using standard small-infantry-group tactics with active use of drones.

Tregubov also commented on the situation around Vilcha, over which the Russians claimed to have established control.
"There were constant attempts to attack the same Vilcha, there were statements that they controlled it – this is a little wrong," he emphasized. According to a spokesman for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the enemy suffered significant losses and did not establish control over the settlement.
"They lost a large number of people there, and despite the fact that infiltration groups entered the settlement, there is no question of control there," Tregubov emphasized.
The overall situation in Vovchansk, according to him, remains tense.
"But it should be understood that it could not be without tension, given that the Russians have been trying to establish a zone of control there for two years," Trehubov said.
Recall, Russian troops are still present in the village of Hrabovske in the Sumy region and have attempted to advance toward settlements to the north, trying to test the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ defenses.
Since the beginning of the day, Russian invaders have continued offensive actions along the entire front line, attempting to break through Ukrainian defenses.
The fiercest fighting is taking place in the Southern-Slobozhanskyi and Pokrovsk directions, where Russian forces launched multiple attacks on Ukrainian positions.
