While Putin was giving messages of "cooperation" with President Erdoğan in Ashgabat, Russian drones struck the Turkish ship Cenk T in the port of Odessa. This incident, which occurred on December 12th, is not only a diplomatic discourtesy but also a strategic suicide for Russia. Because making the Black Sea insecure means Russia is risking its own oil exports.
In this video, we analyze Russia’s "fatal mistake" and the Montreux Convention card in Türkiye’s hand:
THE TIMING IS SIGNIFICANT: The attack was carried out by a Geran-2 drone with pre-entered coordinates, at the very moment Putin and Erdoğan were meeting.
THE CENK T SHIP: It was carrying generators for the Ukrainian people, not military ammunition. Despite turning off its AIS signal, the ship was targeted by Russian intelligence.
Türkiye’S RESPONSE (MONTREUX CARD): Without declaring war, Turkey can cut off Russia’s oil revenues simply by monitoring the "Shadow Fleet" and tightening insurance (P&I) conditions.
ECONOMIC DOMINO EFFECT: If security is lost in the Black Sea, insurance premiums will skyrocket. This will affect not only Ukraine but also Russia, which exports from Novorossiysk.
This image demonstrates how Russian diplomacy contradicts the reality on the ground.
