A 25-year-old woman from Barcelona, living with paraplegia and severe chronic pain, has undergone euthanasia following a prolonged legal dispute with her father. Despite multiple appeals, including to the European Court of Human Rights, all rulings ultimately cleared the way for the procedure.
Her decision came after years of physical and psychological suffering, including trauma from a past assault and several suicide attempts. The case has reignited debate in Spain, where euthanasia has been legal since 2021 under strict conditions for patients experiencing unbearable and incurable suffering.
