The attack on the Crimean Bridge on June 3 is unlikely to have the same tangible consequences for the war as the strike on the airfields of the Russian strategic aviation. Perhaps the attack will have to be repeated, said military expert of the Defense Express portal Ivan Kirichevsky on Radio NV .
He noted that even from the Ukrainian side there is still little information about the operation on the Crimean Bridge.
"And perhaps there should still be some intrigue. Perhaps the attack will have to be repeated. Perhaps the same means will have to be used," the analyst said.
Kirichevskiy noted that the "pogrom" of Russian strategic aviation will have a "quite practical effect" on the course of the war, whereas in the case of the Crimean Bridge the effect is more symbolic.
"Obviously, if this symbolic effect did not lead to a correction of the Russian position, then perhaps this will have to be repeated," he added.
As reported, on June 3, the SBU carried out an underwater explosion near one of the supports of the Crimean Bridge, which was illegally built by Russia after the annexation of Crimea. Russia subsequently stated that the bridge had not suffered significant damage and resumed its operation.
Navy spokesman Dmitry Pletenchuk said it was still unknown how exactly the Russian Federation was continuing to use the bridge. However, he said it was quite risky to operate the bridge after such an event – at least without inspecting it.
"And if the leadership of occupied Crimea decided to risk the lives of their fellow citizens by allowing them to travel as before, then it is likely that someone from the occupiers will be held responsible for these victims in the future," the military man emphasized.
He added that after the previous two defeats of the bridge, the occupiers failed to fully repair its railway section; only the section for motor vehicles was fully operational. As Pletenchuk noted, the Russians understood this problem, so they invested in the construction of a railway leading from the Russian Federation to the occupied peninsula. It is this railway line leading to the ARC from the Russian Rostov-on-Don that the invaders rely on in the event of the destruction of the Kerch Bridge.
