The freshly unveiled U.S. National Security Strategy has raised eyebrows among European NATO member states. TVP World spoke to Gerlinde Niehus, former NATO Deputy Director for Defense and Security Cooperation, to get her reaction to the document.
One point of the course of action laid out by Washington addresses the political situation in Europe. The document states that the U.S.’s broad policy on Europe should prioritize “cultivating resistance to Europe’s current trajectory within European nations.”
The former NATO Deputy Director for Defense and Security Cooperation called it "a MAGA blueprint," and said that "Trump wants to bond with his right-wing counterparts in order to turn Europe into a mini-MAGA."
