The United States and Iran have agreed on a two-week ceasefire that will allow shipping to resume through the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed a great day for world peace, now moving away from his threat that a whole civilization might die.
– WILL IRAN OPEN THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ?
Tehran will allow safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz for a period of two weeks. It is a key maritime route for the transport of crude oil. Iran’s blockade of the route caused traffic to drop by more than 90 percent.
– OIL PRICES FALL SHARPLY
Oil prices have fallen to below 100 dollars per barrel following the ceasefire announcement on the expectation that oil and gas shipments through the Strait of Hormuz could resume.
