British Prime Minister Keir Starmer arrived for a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at a Trump family golf property in Scotland.
According to Associated Press during Monday’s talks, Starmer plans to urge Trump to press Israel to allow more aid into Gaza amid an increasingly desperate humanitarian crisis there.
Starmer also will push for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.
Trump has been more focused on the U.S. getting credit for arranging food aid to Gaza.
As the leaders arrived for their meeting, they were both asked about the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza.
"Well we, as you know, have given a lot of money to Gaza for food and everything else. A lot of that money is stolen by Hamas and a lot of food is stolen. But we’re very much involved and I think it’s one of the main reasons for our meeting today," Trump said.
During the talks, Starmer is also expected to promote peace efforts in Russia’s war with Ukraine.
