A Ukrainian sabotage operation in eastern Luhansk region has knocked out a power substation that supplied electricity to a railway hub used for transporting military cargo for Russian army. According to partisan movement “Atesh,” one of their agents infiltrated the facility and disabled an electrical transformer. The act triggered a fire that spread across the substation’s equipment. The group said the blaze severely damaged the transformer systems and that repairs could take several weeks. Atesh claims the substation powered a key railway junction through which trains carrying military equipment and ammunition were moving around the clock. As a result of the sabotage, disruptions have occurred in the supply chains of Russian forces, particularly affecting operations in the Lyman and Kostiantynivka directions. The group added that Russian troops are now being forced to rework their logistics and look for alternative routes, warning that further internal strikes would continue to target and weaken the system. The movement has previously reported similar actions. In early March, Atesh said it carried out sabotage on railway infrastructure in occupied Luhansk, a critical route for supplying Russian forces at the front. It also claimed responsibility for an operation near Sevastopol timed to coincide with the “Day of Resistance to the Occupation of Crimea,” during which communication facilities were allegedly disabled, affecting drone operations. In another reported incident, Atesh operatives said they destroyed telecommunications equipment near the settlement of Gorny Shchit in Russia’s Sverdlovsk region, which was used for coordinating military units. Ukraine has ramped up attacks on Russian strategic facilities in occupied in occupied parts of the country and beyond the frontline. These incidents, often attributed to sabotage or precision strikes, complicate Russia’s ability to sustain its forward units and highlight vulnerabilities behind the front line.
