Ukrainian forces have begun counteroffensive operations in the Hulyaipole and Pokrovs’ke directions. The attacks, which initially began on February 5, are taking place on at least 9 vectors. Ukrainian forces, utilising a significant amount of manpower and equipment, are attacking from Orestopil in the direction of Kalynivske and Berestove, from Ternuvate and Prydorozhnje in the direction of Kosivtseve, from Vozdvyzhivka in the direction of Pryluky and Varvarivka, from Radisne in the direction of Zlahoda and Dobropillya, and from the railway line towards southern Hulyaipole. So far, Ukrainian forces have been able to clear Ternuvate and Prydorozhnje, and have entered Dobropillya and Pryluky. According to unconfirmed reports, they were able to break through several kilometres to Berestove and Kalynivka, although Russian sources deny this. The attacks are taking place in conjunction with the disabling of Russian Starlink terminals, which is likely having an effect on Russia’s ability to defend.
ProRussian military blogger Yuriy Podolyaka reported this. "I said a few days ago that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were concentrating reserves in the Huliaipole sector, and at that time I predicted a quick counteroffensive. The most logical thing to expect was the fog, and, of course, it’s also connected to the shutdown of Starlink terminals, which the enemy had re-registered but stopped working for us. This is also a very serious factor, allowing the enemy to advance here now ," the blogger reported. According to him, the Ukrainian army has redeployed its entire assault corps to Huliaipole: seven assault regiments and three assault brigades. These reserves are from the Pokrovsky sector of the front and the Kupyansk sector. The expert stated that the assault corps is advancing behind the Vostok Group of Forces. "So far, the enemy has achieved its greatest successes in the Velikomykhailivka area, where it was able to push back our forward barriers in the Orestopol and Sosnovka areas. Now, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are attempting to enter Berezove. They have also launched attacks from the Pokrovsk area and north of Ternovatoye. The militants are trying to recapture the latter settlement. While this is still a relatively gray zone, the enemy’s chances of retaking it are quite high, given all the circumstances," Podolyaka said. He noted that heavy fog covers the Zaporizhzhia region every morning, hindering the operations of Russian drones. However, when the weather changes, the Russian Armed Forces inflict heavy losses on the Ukrainian army. "Our units further south, near Hulyaipol, are advancing their offensive. They have almost reached the outskirts of Verkhnyaya Tersa, having captured Staroukrainka and Tsvetkovo." "Yes, these successes are important, but the main battle today is still further north. And I think this section of the front will be our primary focus in the coming weeks," the expert emphasized.
