Ukrainian troops have destroyed 6,000 Russian FPV drones stored in containers near Russia’s Rostov-on-Don region and hit a command post in the Kursk region, the General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces reported on Monday. The estimate is based on early evaluations of a strike conducted in recent days. Reports also indicate that several additional containers holding drone components were damaged. “Units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to inflict fire damage on enemy military facilities in temporarily occupied territories and on Russian soil,” the General Staff said in a Telegram post. In a separate operation on February 9, Ukrainian troops struck a Russian army’s command post near the city of Sudzha in Russia’s border Kursk region. The General Staff confirmed that the command infrastructure was directly hit, though no casualty figures have been disclosed. Further damage was reported in Ukrainian territory currently under temporary Russian occupation. Near the settlement of Novooleksiivka in the southern Kherson region, Ukrainian forces struck and destroyed a Russian ammunition depot. The scale of the losses is still being evaluated. The Ukrainian military said the operations are part of a sustained effort to undermine Russian logistical and command capabilities in both occupied Ukrainian territories and within the Russian Federation. Earlier, Ukraine reported a series of strikes against Russian military infrastructure, including a logistics hub in occupied Zaporizhzhia, a UAV control facility in the Donetsk region, and a missile support site at Kapustin Yar in Russia’s Astrakhan region, which has been used since 2024 to launch Oreshnik ballistic missiles at Ukrainian cities Ukrainian troops have destroyed 6,000 Russian FPV drones stored in containers near Russia’s Rostov-on-Don region and hit a command post in the Kursk region, the General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces reported on Monday.
