Ukrainian Defense Forces Attack Starobesheve Thermal Power Plant Near Occupied Donetsk

The Ukrainian Defense Forces have attacked the Starobesheve Thermal Power Plant in the settlement of Novyi Svit, Donetsk region.

The Exilenova+ Telegram channel published a video of the strike on the facility.

The plant has a reported electrical capacity of about 2,300 MW and serves as the primary source of power supply for the occupied territories.

The moment of the attack was captured on video by a local resident, confirming that the thermal power plant was hit. Meanwhile, the Telegram channel of Petro Andriushchenko, head of the Center for the Study of Occupation, reported that the facility had “left the chat.”

It is worth noting that the Ukrainian Defense Forces have begun striking more actively at energy facilities both in Russia and in the occupied territories that the enemy uses for its own purposes – primarily to support its military forces.

Recently, drones from the 422nd Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces carried out strikes on energy infrastructure in the occupied cities of Berdyansk and Melitopol, which the enemy had been using for its own needs.

At the same time, strikes have also been carried out directly on Russian territory. On the night of November 4–5, drones targeted an energy infrastructure facility near the Russian city of Vladimir – specifically, the Vladimirskaya high-voltage substation.
