In the Kstovo district of the Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia, a fire broke out at the Gorky oil pumping station after a series of explosions. This was reported by local residents and OSINT analysts ASTRA. According to eyewitnesses, explosions occurred in the early morning of April 23 in the area of Kstovo, after which a fire broke out. According to the analysis of videos and photos, the Gorky oil pumping station, located in the village of Meshikha, caught fire. The station is part of Transneft-Verkhnyaya Volga and is one of the key nodes in the company’s main oil pipeline system. There is currently no information about casualties. Official comments from local authorities regarding the incident have not yet been received. The circumstances of the incident are being clarified. The governor of the Samara region of the Russian Federation reported an attack. "An enemy drone attack is underway in our region. According to preliminary reports, there are casualties in Novokuibyshevsk as a result of the attack on industrial facilities." He also added that in Samara and Novokuibyshevsk, first-shift classes in schools were moved to the second shift. According to Astra, the Novokuibyshevsk Petrochemical Plant was under attack – a fire is raging there. Novokuibyshevsk Petrochemical Company JSC is one of the largest producers of gas processing, petrochemical, and organic synthesis products in Russia and Eastern Europe. The company operates key basic petrochemical production facilities, including liquefied hydrocarbons, methyl ether, and benzene, as well as phenol, acetone, alpha-methylstyrene, and olefins. In addition, according to the company’s website, NNK operates "a production facility for para-tert-butylphenol that has no analogues in Russia and the CIS countries, as well as the only synthetic ethanol production facility in the country." The RIA Novosti propaganda agency, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense, reported that air defense systems allegedly shot down 154 Ukrainian drones overnight over the Astrakhan, Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kursk, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov, and Samara regions of Russia, as well as over temporarily occupied Crimea, the Sea of Azov, and the Black Sea.
