The massive buildup of air defense systems near Moscow indicates a deep fear within the Russian government over the threat of a Ukrainian drone attack. Retired major Alexei Getman, a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, said this on Radio NV. In particular, he analyzed how Ukrainian drones recently successfully penetrated three air defense echelons near Moscow, which included at least 10 S-400 regiments and more than 80 Pantsir and Tor missile systems. "Such a large number of air defense systems means that there is serious fear in Moscow, Russia," says Getman. According to the expert, such a dense air defense system was most likely built on orders from the political leadership, not the military. "Because oversaturated air defenses begin to work in reverse. It doesn’t improve, the more the better – no. The more, the worse," Hetman emphasized. He explained that each anti-aircraft missile system has a specific coverage area, and those located nearby must partially cover the affected area so that there is no gap through which something can fly. "When they’re deployed in such a way that they overlap each other multiple times, a very simple question arises… For example, if five or seven anti-aircraft missile systems simultaneously spot a drone or an aerial target we launched, who should destroy it? How are they supposed to coordinate among themselves who will attack this target? All seven at once, or is there some kind of priority?" Getman said. He noted that a situation is emerging where it is unclear who exactly should take responsibility and undermine this goal. "I think the Russians are sticking more stuff in there to, in their view, improve Moscow’s air defenses, but it will only get worse. What can we do? Do nothing. Get used to the fact that attacks from our side will intensify and increase. And then let them decide whether they should attack our country," Getman said. He noted that, following the Ukrainian strikes, proposals are already being made in the Russian rear to stop attacks on Ukraine. At the same time, he noted that some foreign leaders, such as Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico, decided to come to Moscow for the May 9 parade to show that Putin is not an "outcast." "And when, a few days before, missiles start landing six kilometers from the Kremlin, I somehow think some leaders’ desire to come to Moscow will diminish. Especially since there’s talk of putting anti-drone nets over Red Square," Getman said. He also recalled that May 8th is a day of mourning worldwide for those killed in World War II. After 1945, there were no parades in Moscow for twenty years, until 1965, and May 9th was a working day. Many war witnesses were still alive then, and they remembered that what happened in that war was very different from what was later depicted in Soviet films and propaganda. As reported, on the night of May 4, five days before the parade, debris from an FP-1 attack drone fell 6 km from the Kremlin. The drone struck a building near Mosfilmovskaya Street. There were no injuries. This was the first time in a long time that Ukrainian UAVs had appeared in close proximity to the Russian government quarter.
