Ukrainian Armed Forces have struck an oil terminal supplying to the Russian Armed Forces. The Tamanneftegaz oil terminal was hit in Volna settlement of Russia’s Krasnodar region on the night of January 22, the press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported. Estimated losses inflicted on Russia, according to a preliminary estimate, are about 50 million USD. In the statement, the General Staff clarified that a direct hit on the target was recorded; explosions were heard and a fire broke out. Video footage released in social media captures the moment of the strike on the oil facility followed by fire. The attack damaged technological pipelines at the berths. A number of tanks with vacuum gas oil and tanks with fuel oil were also damaged. Damage to the shut-off valves led to the leakage of oil products with subsequent fire. The total area of the fire was about 7 thousand square meters. Ukraine has stepped up attack on Russian energy infrastructure. Strikes have targeted oil depots, refineries, and fuel terminals in several Russian regions, causing fires, explosions, and temporary disruptions to operations. Ukrainian officials say these sites are directly involved in supplying fuel and energy to Russia’s armed forces, making them legitimate military targets. Thus, the attacks are aimed at undermining Russia’s war efforts. The air strikes are carried out using drones and precision weapons, often hitting facilities deep inside Russian territory as well as in the occupied parts of Ukraine.
