Ukrainian skeleton racer to wear tribute helmet despite IOC ban | Ukraine Brief

Russian attacks continue to devastate Ukraine, targeting energy infrastructure and leaving tens of thousands without power.

In Sloviansk, Russian forces dropped seven FAB-250 high-explosive aerial bombs, killing an 11-year-old girl and her mother and wounding sixteen others.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych announced that he will wear his “helmet of remembrance,” honoring athletes killed in Russia’s war, during the Winter Olympics skeleton competition despite an explicit IOC ban.

The 27-year-old has been training in Italy with the helmet, which displays 24 images of fallen Ukrainian athletes, but the IOC ruled it could not be worn in competition due to rules against political statements in the field of play.
