A week has passed since the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Russian port of Olya, which was used to supply weapons to the Russian army. The strategic facility has not yet resumed operations. This was confirmed by the Russian Telegram channel "VChK-OGPU", which is associated with the Russian special services.
Russian authorities are trying to hush up the real scale of damage to the port of Olya in the Astrakhan region, which was attacked by Ukrainian drones on August 14, 2025. However, sources close to the Russian security forces reveal a completely different picture. The port is effectively out of action.
According to the source, the attack drones destroyed the maritime customs building and critical infrastructure. Footage of a sunken bulk carrier with only its stern and mast sticking out above the water appeared online earlier. But these footages show only part of the damage: the consequences were much wider. According to the channel’s source, the movement of ships through the port has been completely stopped. Ships from Iran and Turkey are forced to stand idle at anchor, waiting for permission to enter. Loading and unloading cargo is also impossible. In fact, the port of Olya, which Moscow used to transport military goods from Iran, has ceased to perform its functions. Let us recall that the ship "Port Olya 4" was destroyed during the attack. On board were components for attack drones and ammunition intended for the Russian army. Despite official statements about "shot down drones" and "minor consequences", Russian sources admit that the facility remains paralyzed and has not yet been restored. This strike was a sensitive blow to the Kremlin’s logistics chains, since it was through the port of Olya that Iranian weapons were delivered, including kamikaze drones, which were actively used in the war against Ukraine.
Earlier, media reported that footage had emerged of the Russian vessel "Port Olya-4" sinking in the Caspian Sea with weapons for the Russian army. On August 15, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported a pinpoint strike on the Russian port of Olya in the Astrakhan region. This port is considered a key link in the logistics of military supplies from Iran to Russia, including parts and ammunition for the Shahed attack drones. An analysis of public images conducted by independent sources confirmed, based on a number of features, that the damaged vessel, a photo of which was distributed on social networks, is indeed "Port Olya-4". This vessel was actively used to transport Iranian cargo to Russia before the strike.
