Ukrainian troops have launched a series of air attacks on strategic facilities in occupied parts of Ukraine and deep in Russia over the past day. Ukrainian Armed Forces launched a drone strike on a metallurgical plant in Alchevsk city in occupied eastern Luhansk region on March 30, the General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces reported. As a result of the overnight drone strike, an explosion and a fire broke out at the plant, which is involved in the production of large-caliber ammunition for the Russian army. In addition, a military train belonging to the occupying Russian army was hit near the settlement of Novosvitlivka in Luhansk. On the same night, Ukrainian drones strikes disabled an S-400 “Triumf” air defense missile system in the settlement of Hvardiiske in the Russian-annexed Crimea Peninsula. According to the General Staff, over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian forces also struck a drone control center in the Huliaipole district of the occupied Zaporizhzhia region. Moreover, Ukraine’s long-range strikes targeted facilities deep in Russia. In Russia’s Belgorod region, near the village of Novaya Tavolzhanka, a strike hit an area where Russian personnel had gathered, resulting in significant losses. In addition, the concentration point of Russian troops was hit in the settlements of Berezove in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Basivka in the Sumy region, and the city of Huliaipole in the Zaporizhzhia region. Another facility – a large chemical industry enterprise KuibyshevAzot – was hit in the city of Togliatti in Samara region. Images and videos shared publicly by eyewitnesses show large plumes of dense, dark grey smoke rising into the air. From what can be seen in the footage, it appears that multiple fires may have broken out following the drone strike. This marks the second time in the same month that the chemical facility in Tolyatti has been targeted. The site was previously struck during a drone attack on March 11. In Taganrog in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region, a UAV attack resulted in one fatality and left eight other residents injured, according to a Telegram update from Rostov region governor Yuri Slyusar. He reported that one of the wounded individuals was taken to hospital, where their condition has been described as stable. Slyusar also noted that air defenses intercepted and destroyed more than 60 drones across the region during the night. Attempts were repelled not only over Taganrog but also across six additional districts, including Neklinovsky, Azovsky, Millerovsky, Chertkovsky, Matveyevo-Kurgansky, and Sholokhovsky. He further explained that Taganrog experienced the most significant ground-level impact. Falling debris from the drones triggered fires in several residential buildings and vehicles. Authorities evacuated local residents. In addition, damage was reported to gas pipelines in one of the houses. The gas supply was promptly shut off as a precaution, and no resulting fires occurred in that incident. Earlier on March 23, Ukrainian drones hit the Baltic Sea port of Ust-Luga and Primorsk ports in Russia’s Leningrad region. Being Russia’s largest petroleum export outlets, Primorsk and Ust-Luga,Being had previously both suspended exports of crude oil and fuel since Sunday following drone attacks.
