Deep Strike unit of Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces, SSO, struck the Tamanneftegaz terminal in Russia’s Krasnodar region on the night of December 31. Video footage capturing the moment of the strike has been shared in social media. The facility is one of the largest in the Black Sea region in terms of oil storage and trans shipment volumes. It ensures the transit of large amounts of oil both for export abroad and for domestic users within Russia. Several drones belonging to special operations forces successfully reached their targets, putting the port’s infrastructure out of action. In addition, Special Operations Forces units destroyed ammunition depots of the Russian army in Ukraine’s Russia-occupied eastern Donetsk region. In the village of Blizhne, SSO drones struck a logistics hub supporting a unit of the “Vostok” grouping of forces. In the village of Siyatel, an ammunition and logistics supply depot of the 30th Separate Motor Rifle Brigade of Russia’s 2nd Combined Arms Army was destroyed. Ukraine has intensified its strikes on oil infrastructure inside Russia and in Russian-occupied areas throughout 2025, largely using drones developed domestically. According to the General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ukrainian drones struck the Tuapse Oil Refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar region, triggering a fire and damaging the facility’s main processing unit. Earlier, sources within Ukraine’s military intelligence, HUR, said that the Tuapse refinery had been hit during an overnight attack. The General Staff later confirmed that the drone strike caused a fire at the site, damaging the primary oil processing unit as well as other key installations.
