Video footage has been released showing the aftermath of a large-scale strike on Iran’s Mehrabad International Airport that destroyed 16 aircraft used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Guards Quds Forces. Video footage shared in social media features the airport area and features the struck aircraft that have been destroyed as a result of airstrikes. The Israeli military states that Mehrabad Airport served as a key hub for the Quds Force to supply weapons and financial support to the regime’s terrorist proxy groups across the Middle East, including Hezbollah in Lebanon. Several Iranian fighter jets that posed a threat to Israeli aircraft operating in Iranian airspace were also targeted, the Israel Defense Forces said. “Aircraft loaded with weapons and cash took off from the airport numerous times and landed across the region for the use of the Iranian terror regime’s proxies,” the military says. As part of the operation, the IDF reported that it carried out strikes destroying 16 aircraft that had reportedly been used to transport weapons to Hezbollah. The military also said it targeted additional military infrastructure located at the airport. In addition, several Iranian fighter jets were hit, which the IDF claimed had the potential to threaten Israeli Air Force aircraft conducting operations within Iranian airspace. The Israeli military also stated that it took precautions ahead of the strikes to limit civilian casualties, such as employing precision-guided weapons, conducting aerial monitoring, and relying on additional intelligence assessments.
