Experiencing shortage of military personnel, Russia is sending mutilated soldiers with amputated limbs to take part in its meat assault operations in Ukraine. Video footage released in social media shows disabled Russian servicemen complaining that they are being sent to the frontline despite their inability to move independently. A private named Mikhail Viktorovich and with an amputated foot, explained that he was waiting for a medical commission to grant him disability status, adding that however, he was being sent to the war. Another soldier said he was being sent to the frontline despite his right leg being amputated below the knee. “Even though I have no leg, cannot move properly, and cannot use a weapon, they are still deploying me to the war,” the soldier complained. Yet another serviceman, private Startsev, who used to be a former prisoner, said his leg was amputated back in 2024 and despite his disability, he was assigned to the frontline as the commanders do not care about his medical condition. Startsev explained that he had to obtain his own prosthesis as he was not provided with any medical equipment by the government. Another social media video captured a Russian soldier in a wheelchair and with non-functional limbs complaining that he was being deployed on a combat mission. He explained that the Kremlin did not want to treat the injured and disabled servicemen and thus is sending them to battles to get rid of them. “We are simply being destroyed as unnecessary material. The Ministry of Defense and our command are disposing of us,” the soldier went on saying. It should be noted that according to the recent report by the US-based Center for Strategic and International Studies, CSIS, Russia has lost over 1.2 million servicemen, killed or injured, since the beginning of the full-fledged invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
