The water supply situation in Donetsk is getting worse every day. Journalist Denis Kazansky drew attention to a new video from the occupied city: a woman on crutches tells how she is trying to survive in the absence of water; she has had no water at home since the end of May. People are becoming increasingly harsh, demanding that the Russian occupation administration solve the problem. Russia is driving people to strokes and fights in courtyards over water. "My neighbor was carrying water. Now he’s having a stroke – now he’s a real eggplant, " local residents describe the battle for water.
The region officially announced that water is supplied once every three to four days. But in reality, many houses have had no water at all for months since the beginning of June. The reservoirs are depleted, the pipes are rusty, the infrastructure is in disrepair. Losses during transportation reach 60-65%. In some neighborhoods, water is supplied to basements, but it does not reach the upper floors. People walk around with canisters from neighbors and gateways, begging for at least a little. Even Russian military propagandists have admitted that Donetsk has suffered a water supply collapse. The once-thriving center of Donbass has turned into a city where old men drag canisters up and down the floors and neighbors fight over a bucket of water.
In some houses the supply is somehow maintained, in others – the tap is completely dry. Despair leads to conflicts. People argue and even fight for access to water. Donetsk today looks like a set for a disaster movie, but this is the real life of hundreds of thousands of people. After 11 years of Russian occupation, the once developed and rich region of Ukraine has turned into a humanitarian disaster under Russian rule. Even pro-Kremlin channels are forced to admit: Donetsk has become a real bogeyman for all Ukrainians, who now see what the so-called "Russian world" really is. Now there are claims that Donetsk residents will march on Moscow. This situation is considered a new threat to Putin, as it serves to further escalate tensions.
