Wounded Ukrainian Soldier Captured, Persuades Russian Troops to Surrender

Russian forces captured a wounded Ukrainian soldier, but he later persuaded them to surrender to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

TSN journalist Andrii Tsaplienko reported the incident on his Telegram channel.

The soldier, Volodymyr “Pozytyv” Aleksandrov, was wounded during a combat clash near Kostyantynivka in the Donetsk region and taken prisoner by Russian troops.

For some time, he was out of contact and listed as missing in action. While in captivity, Aleksandrov began negotiations and convinced two Russian assault soldiers to surrender. During their attempt to cross the front line, only one of the Russian soldiers survived.

Later, the Ukrainian command received confirmation that Volodymyr was alive. Despite his wounds, he attempted to crawl back to his own positions on his own, leading a captured Russian soldier with him.

Pavlo Fedosenko, Deputy Commander of the 11th Army Corps and a Hero of Ukraine, led the rescue operation. Thanks to the coordinated actions of the reconnaissance and evacuation teams, both the Ukrainian serviceman and the Russian soldier were successfully extracted from the dangerous area.

It was reported today that “Pozytyv” has been evacuated and is now receiving medical care. He faces a long recovery and rehabilitation ahead.
