3 shootings in about 1 hour of each other in Northeast, Southwest DC

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Deapartment (MPD) said it was looking for the people responsible for three shootings that took place in two areas of the city early Sunday morning.

MPD posted on the X platform at 12:38 a.m. that police were investigating a shooting in the 100 block of T St. NE.

A little more than an hour later, the Metropolitan Police Department posted that there had been a shooting in the 200 block of M St. SW. Additionally, MPD said officers were investigating a shooting in the 5000 block of Banks Pl. NE. In the case of the Banks Place incident, police said they found a man who’d been hit by the gunfire at Bladensburg Road and New York Avenue NE. Medics took the man to the hospital.

The shootings added to what already was a violent Fourth of July Weekend in the District.

Prior to Sunday morning, there were four shootings, including one in which a woman died and another that seriously injured a 3-year-old girl.
