(FOX40.COM) — Seven people were hospitalized Sunday morning after what emergency crews are calling a mass casualty incident.

Around 5 a.m., the Fairfield Fire Department responded to a crash on eastbound Interstate 80 for reports of a collision. The crash involved four vehicles. Subsequently, firefighters said seven people were taken to the hospital with critical and minor injuries.

Their current condition is unclear.
