RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The National Weather Service on Saturday afternoon issued a severe thunderstorm warning for several counties in central North Carolina.
The warning was issued just before 2:45 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.
The weather service said the warning was spurred by severe thunderstorms located along a line extending from 7 miles south of Butner to 6 miles northeast of Siler City, moving northeast at 10 mph.
The storms could have winds up to 60 mph.
“Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees,” the warning said.

Areas of the warning include Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill, Hillsborough, Creedmoor, Pittsboro, Siler City, Carrboro, and Butner.
