Crews battle fire at DC duplex, no injuries reported

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Thick black smoke could be seen billowing in Southeast D.C. early Friday morning after a duplex caught fire.

The DC Fire and EMS Department said crews were dispatched to a box alarm around 4 a.m. on July 11, in the 3300 block of Loud Place.

Once on the scene, firefighters found flames coming from the first floor of a two-story duplex.

The DCFD requested an additional truck and air unit to help battle the blaze.

In an update on X, the fire department noted that crews contained the fire to the first floor and there were no reported injuries.

As of Friday morning, fire investigators were working to learn what caused the fire to ignite.
