WATCH: Crews battle fire at garage of funeral home in Southeast DC

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Crews in D.C. worked to put out a fire that broke out at the garage of a funeral home in Southeast Thursday morning.

Just minutes before 7 a.m. on July 3, the DC Fire and EMS Department said units were dispatched to a box alarm in the 1600 block of Marion Barry Avenue. This is where the Mason Robert G Funeral Home is located.

Once on the scene, the call was upgraded to a working fire, and crews located flames inside the garage and storage area of the building.

Videos shared on social media showed light smoke emitting from the funeral home as firefighters worked to contain the blaze.

The fire department said there were no reported injuries, and investigators are working to learn what caused the fire to ignite.
