AUSTIN (KXAN) — A handful of showers and weak thunderstorms are possible today and tomorrow, but the heat remains the most impactful part of the forecast.
Mainly to partly sunny skies will stretch areawide this afternoon. High temperatures will return to the mid-90s – seasonable for this time of year. High humidity will bring heat index values up to the low 100s.

Some extra lift and higher moisture levels will help produce spotty showers and isolated thunderstorms 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. Many of us will not see rain, but those that do could pick up a quick 0.1″-0.25″.

Rain chances fall to 10% on Thursday and then briefly disappear Friday and Saturday. Afternoon highs will come up a few degrees in anticipation of drier conditions and more sunshine.
It may well be that we will go through June without one triple-digit high. Our hottest days in this sixth month of the year have been a pair of 99° highs on the 9th and 19th. The last June without a high of 100° was 2019. That’s the only year in the last nine without a 100º day!
