On Monday, nine members from Riverside and Oakland City were sent to Texas, followed by the 18 Urban Search and Rescue Team members on Tuesday.
“The scale of loss and devastation Texas is experiencing right now is unfathomable,” said Newsom. “California is proud to lend a helping hand to our fellow Americans.”
As California personnel are being deployed, they will use highly developed skills to assist emergency operations in the hardest hit locations and the surrounding areas.
“Cal OES deploys these experienced teams to help those in need in Texas,” said Cal OES Director Nancy Ward. “These search and rescue professionals have the training needed to navigate extreme conditions.”
Newsom confirms that in the case of additional flood impacts in the area, California is ready to send additional requested resources.
