No heat advisories or extreme heat warnings for the first time this week in central North Carolina, but it was still a hot and humid Friday which prompted isolated storms. While not a washout, a few storms have been severe with gusty wind and hail, and that could continue through sunset.
Expect much of the same this weekend. High temperatures will again climb into the middle 90s with the heat index up to 104° both Saturday and Sunday. Each day will also come with the risk of pop-up storms, but there will be plenty of dry time for weekend plans.
We will kick off July next week with a cold front. It will bring a good chance for rain and storms late Tuesday into Wednesday. Highs will briefly come back down in the low 90s before rising into the upper 90s for the Fourth of July weekend.
