For the first time this week, we are not under a heat alert, but still plan on a hot and humid Friday. Afternoon storms will be possible and could become severe. There’s a level 1 marginal risk over central North Carolina.
The heat index could reach up to 104° through this weekend. Each day will come with the risk of pop-up storms. There will be plenty of dry time for weekend plans.
We will kick off July next week with a cold front. It will bring a good chance for rain and storms late Tuesday into Wednesday. Highs will briefly come back down in the low 90s before rising into the upper 90s for the Fourth of July weekend.
